ANNOUNCEMENTS

Kathleen Lois (Patterson) Tweet

July 31, 1947 ~ February 28, 2020 (age 72)

Obituary

Kathleen Lois (Patterson) Tweet, age 72, of Fergus Falls, MN, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 28, 2020, at Pioneer Care, Fergus Falls, following an extended illness.  She was surrounded by her husband and daughter at the time of her passing.

Kathy was born in Devil’s Lake, ND, on July 31, 1947 to F.T. and Helen (Heinlein) Patterson.  The family called several communities home before settling in Fergus Falls.  She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1965.  She married Larry Tweet on February 7, 1972 in Las Vegas, NV.  The couple adopted a daughter, Siiri, in March, 1976.

Kathy spent many years working as a receptionist at Dakota Clinic, Fargo, ND, where the couple lived for many years before returning to Fergus Falls. She had a love for sewing and was constantly collecting fabric for projects now left undone.  Much of her collection will be donated.

Kathy was a strong support of her husband, daughter, and grandchildren.  She was also a cat lover. She had undergone a kidney transplant and that failed after many years.  Despite her dialysis, she remained an inspiration to all those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a three-day old son, Nicholas; sister, Jan Pallansch; brother, Tom Patterson; brothers-in-law, D.J. Pallansch and Bill Harris and her beloved cats Honey and Crickett.

She is survived by her husband, Larry of Fergus Falls; daughter, Siiri (Cory) Fisher; grandchildren, Olivia, Lincoln, and Jackson Fisher, all of Blaine, MN; and sisters, Carol Harris and Judy (Curtis) Twete.

No services are planned.

Message to Class 65

Dear classmates,

Gerry Worner suggested that I respond the recent notification about the tragic events of last week in Brussels, Belgium.

Several of you wondered whether we are okay.

First of all, thanks for your prayers, sympathy and concern.

My wife Mieke and I are fine: we were not in Brussels that terrible day. We live in a small village resp. some 20 miles from Antwerp and 60 miles from Brussels. Not exactly a target fancied by terrorists.

Some of our kids and friends were in Brussels but not in the neighborhood or not at the time of the attacks. They were all unharmed; as a matter of fact the only problem they faced were the enormous traffic jams that day in Brussels.

You can imagine that these barbaric attacks were here on everybody's mind during the days leading up to Easter.

Matters are coming back to normal slowly but I can't deny that many people remain fearful.

Europe and especially Belgium are confronted with a problem of radicalized, homegrown Muslim youth.

It's more than probable that Europe (and the world) again will be confronted with similar barbaric attacks.

Let’s hope that love and reason will prevail over hate and fanaticism.

Guy
