Linda Rude

June 26, 1947 — February 9, 2024

Linda Rude, 76, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, February 9, 2024, at her home under the care of hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

Linda Helen Shaul was born June 26, 1947 to Glenn and Jean (Keipp) Shaul in Fergus Falls. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1965 and then attended two years of junior college.

On November 2, 1968, Linda married Daryl Rude at Sarpsborg Church near Dalton, MN. They were married for 55 years.

Linda spent time working for the city of Moorhead, MN, Charles Ambuel Tax Agency, Norby's in Detroit Lakes, as a CNA in home healthcare, and InVision Eyecare in Fergus Falls. Through her working years, her greatest aspiration was to care for her family and friends with great devotion.

She enjoyed bird watching, reading, finding new recipe ideas, observing wildlife, time at the lake, time with friends, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her kind heart and beautiful smile enriched our lives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Glenn and Jean (Keipp) Shaul.

Linda is survived by her husband, Daryl; children, Angie (Jeff) Homuth and their children, Isaac and Greta and Alissa (Brent) Pringle and their children, Everett, Lake, Lillian, and Tryllity; siblings, Patricia Anderson of Coolidge, AZ and Mark (Jennifer) Shaul of Moorhead, MN, as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Linda lived by example on how to live life well. She was a woman of high moral standards yet she had the grace for individuals who struggled in life. In the last year she exemplified how to die well. When diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she did not ask why me she said why not me. She said everyone has hard things, it's just our turn. We will work to live a life that she would have been proud of. Although she will be profoundly missed, we are thankful that she is free of suffering and has the promise of eternal life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the charity of your choice or one dear to Linda's heart, Glendalough, Someplace Safe, Lake Region Healthcare Cancer Care and Research Center, or Moments Hospice.

In honoring Linda's wishes, no services are being planned.
